“This personal project was to dig into my personal style and develop skills for interpreting subtle atmospheres in my illustration. The process of this portrait was simple: I chose my selfie for the reference photo. It was taken in the quiet of winter, my favourite season. I used my favourite colours. I wanted to execute unique and detailed skin by layering the strokes with a thin brush. In one layer!”

CAPIC is the Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators, and RODEO student competition is open to photography and illustration students across Canada. Visual arts students from across the country compete for national exposure and an array of great prizes. The winning entries are also published on the CAPIC website and on social media.
