Isidro Ferrer Exhibition Poster by Kathrin Teh (IDEA Grad 2023)
This poster was designed as an homage to famous Spanish graphic designer Isidro Ferrer; it was a collaboration between myself and another student at Emily Carr, who constructed the puppet itself. Our aim was to encompass Isidro's stylistic choices by working exclusively in analog - the only digital element being text (excluding his name, which I hand painted). We studied the nuances that make his work unique in the prolific graphic design community - use of empty space, balance, and minimalism - incorporating them into our design. This poster is an advertisement for one of his solo exhibitions; to reflect not only his style, but him as a person, we constructed a puppet in his image as the focal point - reminiscent of his acting days in theatre, prior to graphic design. The final product came as a result of interminable experimentation and an abundance of different variations.

This is an illustration I did in graphite and pencil crayon. I focused on realism and capturing my mother's soul. I used line, pattern, and colour for the sweatshirt. This photo is very special to me because it is my mother when she was the age I am now.
