Portfolio submission: Other Side — Illustrator and Photoshop by Alison Koo (IDEA Grad 2024) (12"x12")

“Other Side” is inspired by another one of Conan Gray's songs (shown below) which I resonate personally within me. This song is a story about his journey to his final year completing highschool and touches on the faith he has for his success in the future.

The purpose of your portfolio is to demonstrate your creative potential. We assess portfolios on drawing skill, design and creativity.

Portfolio submission: ‘Baited’ by Natasha Lee (IDEA Grad 2024)

Medium: Gouache on watercolor paper.

‘Baited’ is a piece that depicts a student's fear of the steadily approaching future. This is a time in one's life when many things are not clear, yet we are being thrown into the world with new responsibilities and many unknowns. The looming shark over the student represents this daunting transition into autonomy and the inability to escape this feat, thus the hook attached to the girl.

While we are young, we often look forward to growing older and breaking free, but this piece illustrates the fear and pressure being placed on those who are making that transition.
