IDEA Grad 2023 wins big at CityStudio North Vancouver HUBBUB #4 with visual information campaigns around Fire Safety and invasive plant species

Congratulations to IDEA School of Design Grad 2023 student groups for CityStudio North Vancouver HUBBUB #4 top honours— first, second and third—in the Audience Selection Awards!

Twenty-three IDEA School of Design second-year students partnered with the North Vancouver City Fire Department (NVCFD) and the City of North Vancouver Engineering, Parks & Environment department to create visual information campaigns around fire safety for young people, and building awareness around invasive plant species in our local parks.

City of North Vancouver Engineering, Parks & Environment

The Engineering, Parks & Environment group had more broad messages around raising awareness of invasive plant species issues in public parks, and they were also open to a broader audience appeal. They have social media channels too but also have a budget for print collateral such as posters or brochures.

The North Vancouver City Fire Department

The North Vancouver City Fire Department had some specific messages that they wanted to get to a certain demographic, namely young adults (particularly those living on their own for the first time). The Fire Department has social media channels but also wanted to explore other media.

Our two groups were in the program with 12 other student groups from CapU. Results of each program were judged by a panel of experts to declare an overall winner.

One of our student groups with Mia Canderan, Michelle Taylor, and Margeaux Worral created a punchy social media and poster campaign called #PICKME, targeting invasive plants which was judged third by the judges.

Another of our student groups with Michelle Viet, Amanda Wong, and Kat Teh was judged the winner by the attending audience (Audience Selection Award) for their claymation-focused "Freddie the Fire" campaign.

In fact, three of our IDEA School of Design groups took the top honours— first, second and third—in the Audience Selection Awards!

We took the entire podium in the Attendees vote!
