This year's crop of First Year students designed some fabulous international shopping bags for their last big project of the year. There were some innovative typographic solutions as well as some very graphic and illustrative takes on countries and cities.

Congratulations to Teresa Cantu (IDEA Grad 2020) for gaining the RGD Honourable Mention for Packaging Design for her “Scotch & Ginger” branding project.
Teresa incorporates storytelling of Celtic mythology into her product packaging for a fictitious barber shop with Scottish roots. This was a very fun project for Teresa and she learned that thorough research is extremely important in design.
Capilano University’s IDEA School of Design students won 14/50 Advertising & Design Club of Canada (ADCC) Student Awards this year. Not bad for our first time entering! We didn’t get any golds, but 3 silvers and 11 merits. Shown above: Adventure Bug by Danielle Adams (Graphic Design Silver).

Grad 2015 promises to be a great show, with some amazing design work and more than our usual number of illustration grads. Show runs April 13 - 17, 2015 at Harbour Centre in Vancouver.
Third year student Lia McMillan's project – an environmentally sensitive package for chocolates – was recently featured on Lovely Package. Lovely Package curates the very best packaging design.
Miranda Hebert (Grad 2011) was published in CMYK Magazine's Top 100 New Creatives.
IDEA School of Design student Ryan Chung designed a logo and packaging for a line of vitamins sold in upmarket health food stores and organic markets.
