IDEA School of Design (Grad 2024) students Ethan Woronko, Anaïs Bayle and Celina Zhong each designed a font in a recent workshop and have made them available for free download.

Vision is a typeface designed in Glyphs. It embodies a geometric personality with an energetic edge. Only available in all caps and numbers.

“Sludge Pit” typeface by Ethan Woronko

Sludge Pit is a retro-futuristic display font inspired by vintage sci-fi pulps and book covers. Utilizing unconventional line thicknesses and a back slant, the font meets a wide variety of use cases. Only available in all caps and numbers.

“Bricks” typeface by Anaïs Bayle

Big, blocky, and sturdy. First time building a custom typeface. Only available in all caps and some punctuation characters. Kerning needs work.

How to Apply

Admission to the Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication at Capilano University

Entry to the Bachelor of Design program at Capilano University is competitive, and applicants must submit a portfolio and other documents through the online portal SlideRoom.

Please submit no fewer than 15 images of recent work, which may be self-generated or assignments from school or another program. We suggest a minimum of 3 drawings. The remaining submissions can be any combination of photography, painting, design, video, 3D work (e.g. jewellery, sculpture), collage, animation or interactive design (e.g. website, app). The purpose of your portfolio is to demonstrate your creative potential. We assess portfolios on drawing skill, design and creativity.
