Mikaela Johnson (IDEA Grad 2022) hired out of practicum as a designer with Native Shoes

Mikaela Johnson (IDEA Grad 2022) was just offered a permanent position as a designer at Native Shoes several weeks ago and is 🤙 “feeling pretty good about it!”

Congratulations and please tell us about your new job!

I got hired out of my practicum with Native Shoes. The timing worked out really well as they were already thinking about expanding their team and my creative style, values, and work ethic aligned really well with theirs.

What is your role and what do you do?

My title at the company is Junior Graphic Designer. The role itself requires working cross-functionally with departments to create visuals for their needs. My main on-going task for Native is designing emails for digital marketing.

What other tasks do you get to do?

Other tasks I've gotten to do:

• Art direction – I art directed my first photoshoot a couple weeks ago

• Designing assets for internal meetings

• Smaller campaign branding – I designed the branding for the Summer Sale this year

• Assistant for photoshoots

• Format web and social assets
